"...что такое Cloud Computing?...", часть 1
По правде говоря, я уже и до появления Cloud Computing немного устал объяснять каждый раз что такое Grid и чем он отличается от RAC, поэтому появление Cloud Computing меня реально начало выводить из равновесия. Слишком много терминов. Сначала я твердил, что Cloud это тот же самый Grid, но только который находится не в центре данных , а хостится "...где-то там...". Потом я нашел в интернете замечательное видео, которое простыми английскими словами объясняет про Cloud Computing намного лучше меня и я начал давать на него ссылку. Стало немного легче.
В конце концов я нашел замечательную аудио запись интервью Лари Эллисона, которое Вы можете прослушать, нажав на черный прямоугольник слева. Эта запись обладает двумя важными достоинствами:
1. С появлением этой записи моя самооценка вернулась назад на тот уровень, с которого она упала как только появился термин Cloud Computing.
2. Запись помогает мне экономить время. Как когда меня в очередной раз спрашивают про Cloud Computing я просто даю ссылку на этот пост. :^)

UPDATE 2: Маркетинг Oracle задумал провести в Москве Cloud Computing Forum. Предвкушаю, что технических специалистов затошнит. Хакеров вырвет. Но я не в силах изменить название этого мероприятия. Как сказал Ларри: "if orange is the new pink, we’ll make orange blouses" :^)

Sure, well thank you very much for that question… Because Cloud Computing… The interesting thing about Cloud Computing it is either going to be or already is the most important computing architecture in the world because we’ve redefined Cloud Computing to include everything we currently do. So it is already achieved dominance in the industry. I mean I can’t think of anything that isn’t cloud computing; with all these announcements. I have to say that the only way I can understand the computer industry. The computer industry is the only industry that is more fashion driven than women’s fashion.
You know, I mean Cloud Computing. I remember I was reading "W" (американский журнал мод) and I found/read that orange is the new pink and cloud is the new SaaS (аббревиатура Software as a Service) or, you know, Cloud is the new virtualization. It is the most nonsensical… I mean I read these articles … I have no idea what people are trying to… and maybe I’m an idiot… I have no idea what anyone is talking about. I mean it is really just complete gibberish. Cloud Computing is… Google Mail is Cloud Computing… OK… then, then Marc Benioff (CEO компании SalesForce) says SaaS is Cloud Computing; I mean… What is it? What is it? Is it, “oh I’m going to access data on a server on the internet“ -- that’s Cloud Computing?
Then there is a definition: What is cloud computing? It's using a computer that's “out there”. That's one of the definitions... using a computer that's “out there”. These People who are writing this crap are “out there”. They are insane.
I mean the fact that… I mean… You read… It’s stupidest… I’ve been through this. I mean open source. Open source is gonna destroy our business and there’ll be nothing than open source and we’ll walk out of business. But it was PCs was gonna destroy mainframes, minicomputers was gonna destroy mainframes, PCs was gonna destroy minicomputers, open source was gonna destroy standard… Everything was gonna to be delivered… All software is gonna delivered as a service. When is this idiocy gonna stop?
I’ve been at this a very long time. There’s still mainframes. That was the first industry that was going to be destroyed. And watching mainframes being destroyed is like watching a glacier melt. I mean even with global warming it’s taking a hell of a long time. I mean what the hell is Cloud Computing?
So… you know… I don’t… you know… whatever… We’ll make… We’ll make Cloud Computing announcements because, you know, if orange is the new pink, we’ll make orange blouses… I mean I’m not gonna fight this thing, but you know… We’ll… Oh yeah, OK fine, we’ll do some cloud. Maybe we’ll do an ad (ad = реклама). I don’t understand what we will do differently in a light of Cloud Computing other than… mark, you know… change the wording on some of our ads. It’s… It’s crazy. So I don’t know… That’s my view.
